We look at 16 of the best restaurants in Envigado near Medellín, updated for 2021. Envigado is a popular area for foreigners living in the Medellín metro and it has many good restaurants.
Envigado is a separate municipality located directly south of El Poblado. Over the past eight years I have eaten at well over 70 restaurants in Envigado.
Envigado has been growing rapidly and is adding restaurants at a fast pace. For example, when the huge Viva Envigado mall that opened in late 2018, it added many new restaurants.
TripAdvisor for Envigado is missing several of the best restaurants in Envigado and appears to be missing all the restaurants in the new Viva Envigado mall. So, be careful with TripAdvisor restaurant ratings for Envigado.
In addition, TripAdvisor even includes Contenedores as one of the top restaurants in Envigado. But this isn’t a restaurant, Contenedores is a gastronomic market in Envigado with several restaurants.
The following is our list of the 16 best restaurants in Envigado. When deciding on the best restaurants in Envigado, I asked several of my friends living in Envigado what are their favorite restaurants in their neighborhood.

Angus Rib-eye steak at Lucio Carbon y Vino
1. Lucio Carbon y Vino
Lucio Carbon y Vino is a steakhouse located in Envigado on Calle de la Buena Mesa that is very popular with locals and some foreigners.
This restaurant has a very nice ambience and some very good steaks. And it’s currently my favorite steakhouse in the Medellín metro area due to having very good steaks, consistently good every time I have gone.
Lucio typically caters to a more sophisticated clientele. And service has usually been excellent in my experience plus the atmosphere feels intimate. So, it’s a good place to go with a date at night or for a business lunch.
This is a very popular steakhouse in Envigado but it’s not that large. So, it can get busy on the weekends and fill up. But they take reservations, which we recommend on the weekends or holidays.
On the menu are over 10 different steak options including three imported steaks with the steak prices ranging from 36,000 to 75,000 pesos.

Vietnames dishes at Lemoncillo
2. Lemoncillo
Lemoncillo is a hidden gem Vietnamese restaurant in Envigado offering very good and authentic Vietnamese food with reasonable prices. The name of the restaurant Lemoncillo means lemongrass.
Lemoncillo originally opened in December 2014. This is a very small restaurant with only five tables. The chef of Lemoncillo is originally from Laos, where he was born of Vietnamese parents. He also reportedly lived in Saigon and Germany and knows how to cook authentic Vietnamese food.
I have eaten at the restaurant several times and the food has been consistently good. This restaurant is very popular and on the weekends the small restaurant fills up. But it’s a small hidden gem that hasn’t been discovered by that many foreigners, yet. I haven’t heard English being spoken any time I have been to this restaurant.
On the menu are 10 main Vietnamese dishes with prices ranging from 18,500 to 34,500 pesos.

La tRES uno is a small steakhouse located in Envigado in Calle de la Buena Mesa that is popular with locals and some foreigners and it has some good steaks.
A friend lives near this steakhouse and highly recommended it. So, I went with my friend recently for lunch and returned for dinner the following week with another friend. Service was excellent both times and the steaks were perfectly cooked and very good.
On the menu at La tRES uno are 11 different steak options including one imported steak with the steak prices ranging from 25,900 to 45,900 pesos.

Romero Cocina Artesanal is a popular chain of four Italian restaurants in Medellín with good Italian food and a sizable menu of options with many appetizers, pastas, casseroles, pizzas, salads, house specials and desserts.
On the menu are many different types of pasta dishes including fettuccine, ravioli, spaghetti and tortellini. The pasta dishes range in price from 23,900 to 38,900 pesos. And you can order 11 different extras/side orders for prices ranging from 4,500 to 16,500 pesos.
Romero Concina Artesanal is a popular chain of Italian restaurants in Medellín. So, it has grown over the past several years to four restaurant locations in the Medellín area. The following is the Envigado location:

5. Pizzeria Olivia
Pizzeria Olivia is a popular chain of eight pizzerias in Medellín with great brick-oven cooked pizzas as well as good Italian food. As a result of Pizzería Olivia’s popularity they have grown over the past several years to a total of eight restaurants in the Medellín area.
I first discovered Pizzeria Olivia several years ago when I was living in Belén. I like pizzas and Italian food. And I particularly like thin-crust pizza and Pizzeria Olivia specializes in brick-oven cooked thin-crust pizza and Italian food.
So, I have eaten at this popular pizzeria chain many times and they have a big menu with many options.
The pizzas at Pizzeria Olivia come in one size with six slices. On the menu at Pizzeria Olivia are 29 different pizzas with pizza prices ranging from 17,500 to 36,900 pesos.

El Rancherito is a very popular chain of restaurants with nine locations in Medellín and nearby. This chain serves good comida típica – traditional Colombian dishes.
Reportedly El Rancherito is the biggest restaurant chain serving traditional Colombian food in the Antioquia region. El Rancherito restaurants will normally be packed with Colombian families. And they tend to have a nice relaxed atmosphere and will sometimes even have live music in the evenings.
In addition, you can find most of the 15 traditional Colombian dishes we previously looked at on the menu at El Rancherito.
The history of El Rancherito goes back to June 1975, with the first El Rancherito restaurant that opened in 1975 in Amagá, which is located south of Medellín.
Since that time, the chain has continued to expand where El Rancherito now has nine restaurants in Medellín and the nearby municipalities. Also, they have a restaurant in Pereira.
On the menu at El Rancherito you’ll find over 30 traditional Colombian dishes including bandeja paisa, mondongo soup, ajiaco soup, sancocho soup and many more. Prices for Colombian dishes range from 8,800 to 33,900 pesos.

Crepes & Waffles is a very popular chain of restaurants in Colombia that specializes in crepes, waffles and ice cream.
In Medellín, Crepes & Waffles is so popular the company has grown to a total of 19 restaurants and 10 ice cream shops. And the restaurants are not difficult to find, as over half of them in Medellín are found in malls in the city.
The company has grown to over 80 restaurants in nine cities in Colombia and a total of over 100 restaurants in nine countries. In addition, the company is known for primarily hiring women who are the head of a household.
Crepes & Waffles has an extensive food menu. Obviously crepes and waffles are the focus. The extensive menu can be seen online (in Spanish).
Crepes & Waffles is a good option for lunch, brunch, dinner or just a dessert. It’s expected to remain a popular restaurant chain due to having some good food. And Crepes & Waffles has one location in Envigado:

8. Hato Viejo
Hato Viejo is a popular chain of restaurants with four locations in Medellín. This chain serves good comida típica – traditional Colombian dishes. Also, they tend to have a nice relaxed atmosphere plus at some locations live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
In addition, you can find most of the 15 traditional Colombian dishes we previously looked at on the menu at Hato Viejo.
Over thirty years ago, the history of Hato Viejo started when it opened its first restaurant located in the Las Palmas area in front of the Intercontinental Hotel in Medellín. The goal of this restaurant was to provide the city with a welcoming space for families, businessmen and tourists, which would reflect the Paisa culture.
Hato Viejo was also named the “best restaurant in Antioquia” by La Barra magazine in 2011.
On the menu at Hato Viejo you’ll find over 20 traditional Colombian dishes including Bandeja Paisa, Mondongo soup, Ajiaco soup, Sancocho soup and many more. Prices for Colombian dishes range from 33,500 to 55,000 pesos.

Black Pepper Steakhouse is a steakhouse located in Envigado that is popular with locals and some foreigners. This restaurant has a nice ambience and some good steaks.
Service has usually been excellent in my experience and the atmosphere feels intimate. So, it’s a good place to go with a date at night or for a business lunch.
I have eaten at Black Pepper numerous times over the past few years. And I have tried many things on the menu including several of the steaks, the pork tenderloin, the crusted salmon, the St. Louis ribs and the surf and turf.
Black Pepper Steakhouse is located in Envigado in an area known as Calle de la Buena Mesa (Street of the Good Table), which has many restaurants.
On the menu at Black Pepper are less than 10 different steak options including two imported steaks with the steak prices ranging from 32,500 to 125,000 pesos.

10. Ragazzi Pizzas Y Pastas
Ragazzi Pizzas Y Pastas is a popular pizzeria chain with two pizzerias in the Medellín metro area. This chain’s first pizzeria is in Envigado, which opened about two years ago. And the chain recently opened its third pizzeria in Laureles.
Ragazzi has very good pizzas that are served on a skillet to keep the pizzas hot, something I haven’t seen at another pizzeria in Medellín. Also, it has some good pasta dishes.
The pizzas at Ragazzi come in three sizes: personal (18 cm), for a couple (28 cm) or with friends (38 cm). On the menu at Ragazzi are 16 different pizzas. And the pizza prices range from 19,500 to 23,500 pesos for 18 cm, 25,500 to 32,500 pesos for 28 cm or 33,500 to 39,500 for 38 cm.

Chef Burger is a popular chain with 11 gourmet burger restaurants in Medellín with really good American style burgers. And they also use the slogan “The Best Burger in Town”. But that’s debatable as Medellín has many other good burger places.
Chef Burger was originally the dream of four enterprising friends that started in August 2011 with its first gourmet burger restaurant in El Poblado.
This gourmet burger restaurant has been so popular that it has grown over the past six years to where it now has 11 restaurants in Medellín. In addition, it has two in Bogotá and two in Cali. So, Chef Burger now has a total of 15 restaurants in Colombia. Also, it has a food truck to enable Chef Burger to bring its gourmet burgers to some events.

Ná Pizza is a popular pizzeria in Envigado with very good thin-crust pizzas. I recently went to this pizzeria that was recommended by a Medellin Guru reader and found that the pizzas are very good.
Ná Pizza is reportedly owned by Italians. And Ná Pizza specializes in thin-crust pizza cooked in a gas brick-oven. In addition, this restaurant has some good pasta dishes.
The pizzas at Ná Pizza come in one size with eight slices. On the menu at Ná Pizza are 33 different pizzas with pizza prices ranging from 17,000 to 40,000 pesos.

Restaurante Con Saber a Mar is a popular restaurant in Envigado with good seafood that has been in business for about 10 years.
This restaurant specializes in seafood dishes. There are over 20 seafood dishes on the menu including seafood casseroles, and many types of fish and other seafood dishes priced from 30,000 to 05,000 pesos. The dishes come with coconut rice and a patacon.
Also, there are three ceviche dishes on the menu priced from 24,000 to 20,000 pesos. And there are three pasta with seafood dishes for 30,000 or 32,000 pesos. In addition, there are two salads on the menu for 26,000 or 28,000 pesos.

Wajaca is a popular chain of nine Mexican restaurants in Medellín with a festive eating environment and a nice presentation and good Mexican food.
I have been to this restaurant several time but never wrote about it until now. Wajaca tries to provide an authentic Mexican experience and succeeds in the presentation and it has some good food. Also, their sauces from this restaurant can be found being sold in many stores in Medellín.
Wajaca has several traditional Mexican food options on the menu including:
- Tacos – eight types with three tacos for 17,900 to 18,100 pesos each
- Fajitas – multiple options for 22,900 to 29,900 pesos each
- Quesadillas – five types for 23,900 pesos
- Burritos – 10 types for 23,900 pesos each
- Chimichangas – two types for 21,900 pesos each

Grill Station Burger is a popular chain of four gourmet burger restaurants in the Medellín metro area with very good American style burgers.
Something unique about Grill Station Burger is that they only use Brangus beef in their burgers except for the chicken and veggie burger and one burger that uses Black Angus beef. And the burgers and nice and juicy.
Grill Station Burger has 18 different burgers on the menu priced from 19,500 to 27,000 pesos.

The Hato Viejo restaurant looks good. However is is clearly aimed at foreigners with those gringo prices. If I come to Colombia to live, I want to find restaurants for locals that serve the same food for less than half of those prices. Do you have any recommendations for humble restaurants that are cheap, but serve good Colombian food?
I’m surprised Prana isn’t on this list. In a meat-focused country like Colombia, vegetarian (much less vegan) options are hard to come by. Prana is delicious with a great menu del dia.
I have been to Prana and wasn’t impressed due to a huge dependence on cilantro for flavor. Cilantro was in the soup, in the salad dressing and in the sauce on top of the vegetables and the portions are small. Also, on TripAdvisor Prana is listed as #55 out of 214 restaurants in Envigado.
Jack & Roll’s burgers beat out chef and barbacoa any day.
Jack & Roll isn’t always consistently good in my experience – a couple times I have been disappointed so put them lower in the list.

Plenty of good restaurants to choose from in Envigado’s Calle de la Buena Mesa. Black Pepper, Lucio Carbon and Barbacoa are at the top of my list.
