Pizzería Olivia is a popular chain of eight pizzerias in Medellín with great brick-oven cooked pizzas as well as good Italian food. As a result of Pizzería Olivia’s popularity they have grown over the past several years to a total of eight restaurants in the Medellín area.
Pizzería Olivia is currently ranked #16 on TripAdvisor out of over 140 pizza places in Medellín. And they are ranked #26 out of 110 Italian restaurants in Medellín on TripAdvisor.
However, I’m not a big fan of TripAdvisor. Be careful with TripAdvisor reviews. There are even companies which businesses can hire to create highly believable fake TripAdvisor reviews, fix a reputation if they’ve received bad reviews, or even sabotage competitors. An Italian magazine even got a fake restaurant that doesn’t even exist to be rated #1 on TripAdvisor. So, be skeptical of TripAdvisor ratings.

My Experiences at Pizzería Olivia
I first discovered Pizzería Olivia several years ago when I was living in Belén. I like pizzas and Italian food. Also, we included Pizzería Olivia in our list of the best pizza places in Medellín.
In addition, in my opinion, Papa John’s has the best pizza out of the big pizza delivery chains in Colombia. But all of the above independent pizzerias we have looked at in detail have better pizzas than Papa John’s and the other pizza chains in Colombia.
The Bottom Line – Pizzería Olivia
Pizzería Olivia is one of my favorite pizza places in Medellín. It has really good thin-crust pizza, which I like. It also has some good Italian food in my experience. The food is very good in my experience. So, it’s worth a visit.
The only downside of this restaurant chain is that some locations can get very busy, particularly at night on Fridays and on the weekends. So, it may take some time to wait for a table and service may be slower than on less busy days.

We have eaten at a few different locations. The food is consistent and good. Every place we have eaten at we have had to flag down the server. For some reason, they like to huddle in the back of the restaurant near the kitchen and talk to themselves. It’s like they are shy to be around the customers, and that is either gringo or Colombian customers we have noticed.
I ate at the Sante Fe Mall location. I thought the pizza was pretty darn good. To be fair, I’m more of a traditional pizza or Chicago-style pie guy. A poster above me mentioned the excellent Sangria and I have to agree….delicious. My server was very good and she had no problem with me substituting my Hawaiian ingredient of ham for pepperoni. Pepperoni and Pineapple…Mmm so good 🙂 There’s a ton of pizza spots around town, so although this place serves good thin crust pies, it’s probably not a place you want to go out of your way for. If you happen to be near one of their locations and the mood strikes for pizza then go for it, you won’t be disappointed.
Hi Jeff, I agree with you that Pizzería Olivia has some good pizzas. But there are so many good pizza places around town I don’t go out of my way to go to Olivia – but do eat there sometimes when near one of their 13 locations.
Tripadvisor is a joke with fake reviews. They currently have La Pampa as the best restaurant in Medellin ranking ahead of Carmen, Oci.Mde and Barcal. I remember when Tripadvisor even had the Flip Flop Sandwich shop as the highest rated restaurant in Medellin, which is a complete joke.
Olivia has some great thin crust pizzas in my experience plus a nice atmosphere.
I agree with your Olivia post but I would add that they have excellent white and red Sangria. Their Sangrias on par with Sangria from top restaurants like Lucio and El Correo. Fruity with a natural sweetness, it is a great drink on a warm day or simply to enjoy before or during your meal.
Thanks, I have seen this pizzeria in some malls but haven´t tried it yet. I love thin crust pizza and will have to try this place out.
