Da Filippo Pizza Artigianale was a popular pizzeria located in El Poblado in Medellín. It had some very good thin-crust pizza cooked in a wood-burning brick oven. “Artigianale” in the restaurant’s name is Italian for “handmade.”

I initially went to Da Filippo with a friend living in El Poblado, who recommended the restaurant and said it was his favorite pizzeria in El Poblado. Since then, I returned twice, as Da Filippo has good food.

This restaurant in El Poblado had good pizzas and also a number of other good Italian dishes on the menu. Note the above photo is courtesy of Da Filippo.

EDITORS NOTE: DA FILIPPO IS NOW CLOSED.

This pizzeria reported closed in mid-2019, approximately in July 2019. In its place is a new Mexican restaurant.

All 13 pizzerias listed above in my opinion have better pizza than the pizza chains in Medellín like Domino’s, Jeno’s, Papa John’s, Pizza Doble Pizza, Pizza Hut or Pizzas Piccolo.

Also, we previously had included Da Filippo in our list of the best pizza places in Medellín.

In addition, in my opinion, Papa John’s has the best pizza out of the big pizza delivery chains in Colombia. But all of the above independent pizzerias we have looked at in detail have better pizzas than Papa John’s and the other pizza chains in Colombia.
