Hi Peter, see you there. I have you down for 1 RSVP.
My name is Joe. I live in South Florida. I will be traveling to Medellin this coming weekend (Oct 19-22). Wondering if your group is having a meetup this weekend. I am very interested in speaking with anyone who may be able to help with teaching English in Medellin. I have read that there is a big push for the population to learn English and teachers are in demand. Also would like insight into the possibility of relocating here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hi Joe, sorry we don’t hold our meetups on Fridays or the weekends, as it is difficult to find a venue on days when they are normally busy.
We hold the Medellin Guru meetups normally on Tuesdays or Wednesdays when venues are less busy. On less busy days they are happy for us to hold a big expat meeting.
There are schools looking for English teachers in Medellín but I have heard it’s competitive. When I took classes at Universidad EAFIT I met several expats teaching English there.
Thanks for the reply Jeff,
I am a teacher here in Florida. I will be retiring soon and thought it might be a good idea to look into teaching English in Medellin. I speak Spanish and my father was born in Colombia. I thought my background might give me an advantage over others. I’m looking forward to my visit. I’ll be at the Holiday Inn Express in El Poblado. Would be happy to meet you and others this weekend should our paths cross. I don;t have any set itinerary. I do have a friend who I hope to see. I am interested in a scooter to if you have any insight on that. Thanks
