We provide a curated list of weekly Medellin events if you are looking for something fun to do in Medellín. Also, we update our Medellín events list weekly.

This article covers Medellín events during the period from October 22 to October 28, 2020. In addition, this article will be updated weekly with current weekly Medellín events. So, bookmark this page and never miss the best events in Medellín.

In our weekly Medellín events calendar we include events that are primarily of interest to foreigners. Many Medellin Guru readers asked us to start publishing information about other Medellín events. So, we started 48 weeks ago to publish a popular weekly events calendar with Medellín events from Thursday to the following Wednesday each week.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, regular weekly Medellín events in the next week are canceled.  However, theaters in Medellín may start opening. We talked to some theaters and they have been having some virtual events.

Some theaters may plan to start scheduling in-person events. Also, Plaza Mayor will start having events in October. And the Feria de las Flores (Flower Festival) is on November 1 to 8.

Medellin Guru had to cancel our March 2020 Medellin Guru Meetup. Our past 14 events each averaged 175 attendees. We may resume our Medellin Guru events at some point in the future.

In this week’s events calendar all in-person events have been canceled. But OLSA International is hosting a virtual language exchange online each Wednesday and Dancefree also hosts a virtual language exchange online. Also, on September

We decided to include in our calendar this week the regular weekly events that are canceled so readers will know which weekly events have been canceled. We clearly identify below that all these weekly events are canceled.

Why Medellín Events Are Canceled

Colombia exceeded 974,000 cases of coronavirus on October 20. At this point anything can happen with coronavirus in Colombia. We were previously under a nationwide quarantine in Colombia and there were no in-person events permitted anywhere in the country.

But this national quarantine ended on September 1 and theaters may open before year-end and we expect to see a few more events being scheduled in November

November 1 to 8 Feria de las Flores 2020

When: November 1 to 8

Event Link: https://medellinguru.com/feria-de-las-flores-2020/

Feria de las Flores is Medellín’s biggest annual festival and normally starts in August. La Feria de las Flores 2020 (Festival of Flowers) has been rescheduled to November 1 to 8 in 2020 due to coronavirus and is not cancelled.

Last year there were over 400 different events between public and private events for La Feria de las Flores. However, in 2020 the format of the Flower Festival is completely different due to coronavirus.

We have a complete guide to Feria de las Flores in 2020.

There are two upcoming national holidays in November.

November 2 – Monday: All Saints’ Day (Día de los Santos)

All Saint’s Day, also known at All Hallow’s Day, Hallowmas, the Feast of All Saints or Solemnity of All Saints is a holiday that is a commemoration day for all Christian saints, known and unknown.

In Roman Catholicism, All Saints’ Day is reportedly considered to be a holy day of obligation. So, Catholics are supposed to go to mass on the date unless there is a good reason not to attend, such as illness.

November 16 – Monday: Independence of Cartagena

Independence of Cartagena in 2020 is celebrated on Monday, November 16. The holiday commemorates when Cartagena became the first Colombian city to declare independence from the Spanish.

Festivities on this day include many parades in Colombia. And the most notable is in Cartagena where the most colorful parade takes place, which ends at Plaza Trinidad, the location where Cartagena’s independence was originally declared.

Also, in Cartagena on this date is the ‘Battle of Flowers’, which is the beauty contest to pick Miss Colombia who will go on to represent Colombia in the Miss Universe contest.

We have a separate guide to all the Colombia Holidays.
