We provide a curated list of weekly Medellin events if you are looking for something fun to do in Medellín. Also, we update our Medellín events list weekly.
This article covers Medellín events during the period from March 17 to March 23, 2022. In addition, this article will be updated weekly with current weekly Medellín events. So, bookmark this page and never miss the best events in Medellín.
In our weekly Medellín events calendar we include events that are primarily of interest to foreigners. Many Medellin Guru readers asked us to start publishing information about other Medellín events. So, we started 85 weeks ago to publish a popular weekly events calendar with Medellín events from Thursday to the following Wednesday each week.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and curfews, most weekly Medellín events in the next week are canceled. Medellin Guru had to cancel our March 2020 Medellin Guru Meetup. Our past 14 events each averaged 175 attendees. We may resume our Medellin Guru events at some point in the future.
In this week’s events calendar most in-person events have been canceled. But OLSA International normally hosts a virtual language exchange online each Wednesday and Dancefree also hosts a virtual language exchange online.
We decided to include in our calendar this week the regular weekly events that are canceled so readers will know which weekly events have been canceled. We clearly identify below that all these weekly events are canceled.
Why Medellín Events Are Canceled
Colombia had 6,079,896 cases of coronavirus on March 19. At this point anything can happen with coronavirus in Colombia. We were previously under a nationwide quarantine in Colombia and there were no in-person events permitted anywhere in the country.
But the national quarantine ended on September 1, 2020. However, due to event restrictions and curfews most events are cancelled.

March 21 – Monday: Saint Joseph’s Day (Día de San José)
Saint Joseph’s Day is a holiday that celebrates the Virgin Mary’s husband and the adoptive legal father of Jesus Christ. This is scheduled on March 21, the first Monday after the 19th.
Saint Joseph is the patron saint of the Catholic Church, unborn children, fathers, immigrants and workers. Also, this is a popular day for attending mass in the beautiful churches in Medellín and the Aburrá Valley.
We have a popular guide to the holidays in Colombia in 2022.

The Bottom Line: Medellín Events – Weekly Medellín Events Calendar with Top Events
There are many weekly Medellín events of interest to foreigners visiting the city or living in Medellín. Unfortunately many of the Medellín events are typically promoted only in Spanish. So, we plan to find these events for you and publish updates to this weekly Medellín Events Calendar in English.
This week most Medellín events are canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. We expects some event may resume in September.
Each week we plan to cover the best events in Medellín and the Aburrá Valley including expat events, language exchanges, concerts, plays, conferences, festivals, sports and other types of events in the city.

Hi Jeff, I am currently in Florida, I read a great deal about your work and experiences. I find it fascinating, informative and best of all “not sugar-coated” I plan on visiting Medellin at some point in the near future. I am originally from Barranquilla but raised in the U.S. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication. I will be an interested follower of your work going forward. Cheers!
I will be in town on March 6th. Do you know of any get together soon that night near Poblado?
Sorry I mean get togethers that night?
Check back on this weekly events calendar that is updated weekly.
Hello – I have been following the Medellin Guru newsletter and would like to arrange my next visit to Colombia with one of your upcoming ex-pat meetings. Is it possible for you to tell me when you will have your meeting(s) during the months of April and/or May? Thank you very much. Dennis
Hi Dennis, we haven’t yet scheduled our April or May events. When we do it will be published on the Medellin Guru website and also in our weekly newsletter and in this events calendar.
Our events are normally not the first or last week of the month and are typically on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
Hi Jeff
I am also living close to 9 year In Colombia. I am not so close to Medellin because I am based in Capurgana. Capurgana is close to the Panama border.
Since this year I do get your updates and informations,
Just yesterday I told some German visitors who asked about what to do Medellín to visit your web page.
Your updates are so detailed, up to date and posted with nice pics.
Thank you very much for all your services.
All the best for 2020
Silvio, Hostal Capurgana
Hi We’re in Medellin now. Is there a Meet Up prior to January 5th?
Very unlikely to have any expat meetups the next two weeks due to the holidays. For example, it appears that all the weekly language exchanges are not scheduled during the next two weeks. We will update our weekly events calendar next week with events we find. There may be a few events at hostels.
Medellin Guru is planning our January meetup that will be later in January – likely Jan. 21 or 22.
Thanks for the wealth of information. I will be moving to Medellin in a few months. I use the resources provided on Medellin guru extensively in order to prepare.
Medellín is the city of eternal spring, a very hemosa city, and with musical performances of category such as the mariachis medellin mix show.
Thanks, Jeff. The advanced schedule of events is very helpful.
Thanks for this event guide. I plan to go to Octoberfest with some friends. Your event list is better than the one by catalyst weekly. It seemed like almost half of the catalyst weekly events were at discos or bars. Also I didn’t receive a weekly email from catalyst weekly this week.
Hi Paul, thanks! I noticed that Catalyst Weekly stopped publishing blog posts over a month ago and they did not send their weekly email this week. I am not sure why.
FYI, Catalyst Weekly charged to be included in their weekly events list. I tried to get my Medellin Guru Meetup events listed but they wanted me to pay. That is likely why so many events they featured were in discos or bars. So, they never included the largest expat event in Medellín and also didn’t include the InterNations events and many other events that expats would be interested in.
Also, the Catalyst Weekly site doesn’t get much traffic – according to their site, it receives only about 3,000 unique visitors per month. This compares to over 80,000 unique visitors per month on Medellín Guru.
If Catalyst Weekly wanted to charge the Guru for giving them free publicity they’re way off kilter. They shouldn’t walk, they should run to the nearest shrink.
I even offered to them the opportunity to write about events on the Medellin Guru site with a link back to Catalyst Weekly, which I believe would have been a win-win.
Since they didn’t take me up on that, we are now covering events on our own on Medellin Guru. Note that Catalyst Weekly has stopped publishing 🙂
Thanks Jeff, it must have been time consuming to put this together. This will help quite a few of us to connect with like minded people around town.
Thanks, yes it took some time to put this list of Medellín events together but many readers asked for this.
We plan to update this events list weekly.
I trying to sign up for the weekly newsletter. Coming to medillin in February for my birthday
