The April Medellin Guru meetup event will take place on Tuesday, April 23, at 7 pm at Mercado Del Tranvia Envigado, which is located in Evigado near Parque Envigado.

Many readers of the Medellin Guru website asked that we host meetups in Medellín. So, we started having meetups in Medellín. And we are having our eighth meetup on April 23, 2019.

The Medellín Guru meetups are now the largest expat meetups in Medellín. Over 170 people attended each of our January, February and March meetups.

For our April Medellin Guru meetup, we are meeting at the Mercado Del Tranvia in Envigado, which is a new gastronomic market with many food options and a large space for mingling.

We also will have a free beer or Coca-Cola available for our April Medellin Guru meetup for our first 120 guests at Mercado Del Tranvia Envigado (70 free beers and 50 free Coca-Colas).

Some attendees at our last meetup didn’t drink alcohol and asked if we could expand our free drink offering at our meetups. So, we added Coca-Cola as a free drink option.

Some of the most frequently asked questions on the Medellin Guru website have been about visas, health insurance, healthcare, Colombian taxes, legal issues and real estate. So, for our meetups we invite experts who will be there to answer your questions.

For our meetup in April, we are inviting several experts who can answer your questions about visas, health insurance, healthcare, taxes, dental, legal issues, real estate and U.S. Veteran issues. We had over 10 experts at our meetup in March who could answer your questions.

So far we have confirmed the following experts will attend our meetup in April:

1. Visa Questions: the visa agency Expatgroup.co will be there to answer visa questions.
2. Health Insurance Questions: insurance agent will be at our meetup and can answer health insurance questions.
3. Legal Questions: Joe Bovino from the Cuadro Legal law firm will be there and can answer questions about many topics.
4. Real Estate Questions: the local real estate company Lifeafar Investments will be there and can answer many real estate questions.
5. Legal Questions: Alan Grongora from the Langon Colombia law firm will be there and can answer legal questions about many topics.
6. Dental Questions: the dental company International Smiles will be there to answer dental questions.
7. Real Estate Questions: the local real estate company Welcome to Medellin Realty will be there and can also answer real estate questions.
8. U.S. Veteran Questions: Veteran’s Service Officer (VSO) Danilo Bryan will be at the meetup and can help U.S. veterans with healthcare issues such as filing claims. Currently in Panama and expanding to Colombia.

Also, we invited other experts who can other expat questions. So, we expect to have additional experts at our meetup.

More About Mercado Del Tranvía Envigado

Mercado Del Tranvía Envigado is a new gastronomic market in the Aburrá Valley, which has a collection of about 25 restaurants and bars in a warehouse located near Parque Envigado in Envigado.

This food market opened in November 2018. And it has already become popular. Mercado Del Tranvía in Envigado has many small format restaurants with a big variety of cuisines available.

At this food market, food is purchased at the small format restaurants. And food is eaten at several bar-height and several lower tables, which are cleaned quickly and efficiently by the staff. Also, there are some TVs for watching sports.

There currently is a total of about 25 food and drink places at Mercado Del Tranvía Envigado. So, there will be huge selection of food available at our meetup.

Food options include Arabic, traditional Colombian, Greek, hamburgers, Italian, Mexican, Peruvian, pizza, sandwiches, seafood, steaks, sushi, wings and much more.

There are also a couple of bars, a coffee shop and desserts at several kiosks. And there are two floors in this large food market with space for over 400 people.

For our meetup, we will be in the meeting at the back of the first floor in a large space with high tables making it easier for mingling.

How to Get to Mercado Del Tranvía Envigado

The easiest way to get to Mercado Del Tranvía in Envigado is using the Medellín Metro. To get there take the Line A metro to the Envigado metro station.

Also, Mercado Del Tranvía is located half a block from Parque Envigado, which is about a 15-minute walk from the metro station. Or you could take a bus from the metro station or a minimum fare taxi for 5,500 pesos.

From Parque Envigado walk half a block to the right of the Iglesia de Santa Gertrudis church and you will find this new food market on the left side of the street.

In addition, any taxi driver in the city will know where Parque Envigado is located.

The Bottom Line: April Medellin Guru Meetup at Mercado Del Tranvía Envigado

In response to demand from readers, Medellin Guru is hosting our eighth monthly meetup on April 23 at Mercado Del Tranvía in Envigado. And this is a huge venue with a big selection of food and drinks from about 25 restaurants, bars and a café.

This meetup is a great way to meet other expats in Medellín. It’s also a good way to get your questions answered from several experts we invite to the meetup and also from experienced expats who have been living in Medellín for many years.

In addition, about eight months ago we launched the Medellin Guru Events & Discussion Forum on Facebook for readers to keep up with our events and enable discussions between readers. This group already has over 900 members and is very active with over 1,000 posts, comments and reactions in the past month.

Also, we added a  Medellin Guru group on Meetup.com to enable following our events. Furthermore, we looked at 9 reasons to join this new Medellin Guru group.
