Milagros is a popular chain of six Mexican restaurants in Medellín with a festive and colorful eating environment and a nice presentation and good food.
Milagros means “Miracles” in English. When you enter a Milagros restaurant there are lights and ornaments everywhere and an image of the Virgin of Guadalupe. There is Mexican color and culture everywhere in this restaurant chain.
I am originally from Texas, so good Mexican food was a part of my life there and I like authentic Mexican food. But much of the Mexican food in Medellín isn’t very authentic. For example, I am sorry but BBQ sauce doesn’t belong on a burrito. But I have seen this at some of the Mexican restaurants in Medellín.
My Experiences at Milagros
Milagros tries to provide an authentic Mexican experience and succeeds in the presentation and it has some good food but is missing a few of the Mexican food components I expect to see in a Mexican restaurant.
I have eaten at Milagros several times since I first discovered this restaurant about four years ago. Many items on the menu are very good. I especially like the tacos and margaritas. Some elements, such as the guacamole, shredded beef and the shredded chicken are very tasty. And the soft tortillas are very good plus they have some very good desserts.
But the hard tortillas at this restaurant are not like the hard tortillas in Mexico I have experienced.
Also, the sauces need work – the sauce they bring to the table is a tomato chipotle sweet style. But I prefer spicy and the spicy sauce you have to request is in my opinion like ground chilis without much taste – it’s just not very good. I prefer a good spicy sauce with Mexican food.
The service at this restaurant chain is attentive and extremely polite. And at the end of the meal at Milagros, they bring you the check in a small wooden tray with a standing image of the Virgin of Guadalupe, for a final touch of Mexican culture.
However, keep in mind Milagros is a bit pricey compared to other Mexican restaurants in the city.
The Food Menu
Milagros has several traditional Mexican food options on the menu including:
- 5 different types of tacos dishes (with three tacos) for 33,900 to 37,900 pesos.
- 2 types of quesadilla dishes for 18,900 and 27,900 pesos.
- 2 types of burritos for 34,900 and 37,900 pesos.
In addition, there are 11 other Mexican meat, chicken and seafood dishes on the menu with prices that range from 30,900 to 44,900 pesos. And there are three types of salads for 30,900 to 32,900 pesos.
Furthermore, there is La Tacada Milagrosa sharing dish that comes with tortillas and nine different items (meat, cheese, guacamole and more) to make your own tacos that is intended for four people and priced at 78,900 pesos.
Also, the restaurant has eight different appetizers on the menu for 13,900 to 25,900 pesos. And there is a kid’s menu with two options for 24,900 pesos each.
Finally, there are five desserts available for 11,900 to 13,900 pesos each. I really like the Carmelo dessert, which is fried ice cream with chocolate sauce, cookie powder and peaches in syrup.
The Drink Menu
Milagros has a decent sized drink menu. There are 16 different beers on the menu for 7,900 to 10,900 pesos. Also, there are two types of sangria for 79,000 pesos per pitcher and three different cocktails for 29,900 pesos each.
In addition, there are nine different margaritas on the menu for 29,000 pesos each. And there are four types of tequila for 170,00 to 280,000 pesos for a bottle or 9,900 to 15,900 pesos for a shot.
Finally, for non-alcoholic drinks they have water, coffee, sodas, teas and a big selection of juices and lemonades for 3,900 to 9,900 pesos.

The Bottom Line: Milagros – A Mexican Restaurant Chain in Medellín
I normally stick to the tacos and margaritas at Milagros, which are very good. My favorite tacos at this Mexican restaurant are the Tikal (chicken al pastor). But I have tried several other things on the menu that have also been good, particularly the desserts.
The bottom line is that this restaurant chain has a festive and colorful eating environment with a nice presentation and good food. However, it’s pricier than other Mexican restaurants in the city. But if you are willing to spend a few extra dollars per dish, it’s worth it for the ambience in this restaurant.
I am originally from Texas and when I first moved to Medellín, one thing I missed was good Mexican food. Medellín has many Mexican restaurants but most of these are not very good in my opinion, as they don’t have authentic Mexican food.
But I later discovered that there are some good Mexican restaurants in Medellín and the Aburrá Valley. And we have covered some of the best Mexican restaurants in Medellín on this website and plan to cover a few more.
