Donde Bupos: An Excellent Seafood Restaurant in Medellín

Donde Bupos is a popular seafood restaurant located in El Poblado in Medellín with a big menu with very good and fresh seafood.

Finding quality seafood in Medellín can be a challenge and this is understandably so since the city is nowhere near the coast. But Donde Bupos is one of the best seafood restaurants in Medellín with fresh seafood that is cooked very well with good presentation and service.

I went to the restaurant for the first time recently for a late lunch with a Medellin Guru reader. And the restaurant was full of locals and business people. And I was surprised we were the only foreigners considering the very tasty seafood.

We were both impressed with this restaurant. Also I was surprised how good the seafood is and that I have lived over eight years in Medellín and never been to this restaurant before considering I really like seafood.

This is a family owned restaurant. And the couple that owns the restaurant are reportedly frequently there overseeing the restaurant and making recommendations to customers from the menu.

The decorations in this restaurant are simple and the furniture is basic (plastic chairs) and then you are surprised by the very good seafood. And this restaurant has two rooms inside with tables and also a covered patio area with tables open to the outside.

    1. Looks like some good seafood, thanks. I need to try this place out.

One of the dining rooms looks like my high school lunch cafeteria. The other one looks like just the place I’d like to take friends from out of town. Expertly prepared sea food with Jeff’s personal blue ribbon seal of approval at 5000 feet in the Andes is a treat I can’t pass up. I’ll make a reservation before heading over there. Even though I had reservations at Carmen I didn’t know about the dark basement part with the cave-like railway car feel and that’s exactly where they tried to put us even though there were several well situated and unoccupied tables in the nicely done up street level dining room.

    3. Thanks for the article, like the other comments I also never heard of this restaurant. I love seafood and looks like a great place.
