Alumbrados Envigado 2020 – Envigado, located south of Medellín, was the first municipality in the Aburrá Valley to turn on its Christmas lights on Nov. 18.
Envigado is the first municipality in the Aburrá Valley to illuminate its streets and parks in order to restore illusion and hope to the inhabitants of Envigado and visitors, in a year as atypical as this one with the coronavirus pandemic in Colombia.
The streets and parks of Envigado are now illuminated with many figures such as: soldiers, cars, trains, ducks, bears and toy horses, as well as Santa Claus, reindeer, elves, Christmas letters and Christmas bows.
Editors note: according to El Colombiano, Envigado will not turn off its Christmas lights in its main park, unlike Medellín, which turned off its Christmas lights until January 3 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
However, you won’t be able to see the lights on December 25 and January 1 due to the 24 hour curfews on these days. The Christmas lights in Envigado can be seen until January 9, from 6:30 pm to midnight.
Also, Bello has not turned off the Bello Christmas lights in its main park. In addition, we have photos of the Christmas lights in the Aburra Valley in all nine municipalities with lights.

Photos of Alumbrados Envigado 2020
The following are several photos I took in Parque Envigado on November 18, 2020, the first night of the 2020 Christmas lights in Envigado.
The park was packed with people. Normally Parque Envigado during the Christmas season is the busiest on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
More About Parque Envigado
The main Christmas lights in Envigado are found in the main park known as Parque Envigado. Parque Envigado is popular with a church on one side and bars, restaurants and small shops of all kinds surrounding the park.
Also, Iglesia de Santa Gertrudis is located next to Parque Envigado in Envigado.
Parque Envigado is considered by locals to be a convenient place in Envigado to meet up with friends. In addition, Parque Envigado is also considered to be the epicenter of public events in Envigado. Outdoor concerts are sometimes held there.
Also, there is a Christmas light display in Parque Envigado each year and sometimes the church is decorated.
How to Get to Parque Envigado
An easy way to get to Parque Envigado is to take the Medellín metro Line A to the Envigado station. And Parque Envigado is located about a 12-minute walk east from this metro station. There are many people walking on the streets to/from the metro station. So, it’s relatively safe during the day or early evening.
In addition, there are frequent and inexpensive metro buses that run from the Envigado metro station to and from Parque Envigado.
Furthermore, any taxi driver in Medellín will know where Parque Envigado is located. It’s also relatively easy to catch a taxi at Parque Envigado.
The Bottom Line: Alumbrados Envigado 2020
Envigado is the first municipality in the Aburrá Valley to turn on its Christmas lights in 2020. I was impressed by the 2020 Christmas lights in Parque Envigado, which I thought were better than last year.
Locals from around Medellín come to Parque Envigado, particularly during the Christmas holidays.
The date when Medellín will turn on its Christmas lights for 2020 is on December 5, we have a separate guide to the 2020 Medellín Christmas lights. The main Christmas lights in 2020 for Medellín will be in Parque Norte and in Parques Del Rio, like last year.
The bottom line is that Parque Envigado is a popular park. And during the Christmas season in 2020 with its nice Christmas lights display this year and being the first to turn on its Christmas lights in the Aburrá Valley, we expect this park in Envigado will be very popular with many people each weekend.
Also, we have photos of Christmas lights in 2019 from all 10 municipalities in the Aburrá Valley.

Are these lights in Envigado cancelled also?
Not sure, but very likely due to the crowds.
Confirmed that Envigado has not turned off in Envigado, the Christmas lights continue to be lit in the e Main Park and in the San José Park, in order not to affect tourism and commerce in these public spaces. The Mayor’s Office in Envigado notified that both spaces will have lights only until next Saturday, January 9, from 6:30 in the afternoon to 12 at night.
