Mu Medellín is a popular British-owned restaurant in Medellín with arguably the best ribs in Medellín. Ribs are essentially the only thing on the menu at Mu.
Mu uses the slogan “Fukin Good Ribs” and the ribs at this restaurant are huge and meaty. Mu is owned by husband and wife Simon and Elizabeth. And this restaurant only serves ribs. Also, only cash is accepted at this restaurant, no credit or debit cards.
I have eaten at Mu several times over the past eight years and the ribs at the restaurant have always been excellent and service has been good. In addition, Mu has two floors and normally gets busy later in the evening on the two nights it’s open each week: Friday and Saturday nights.

The Food Menu
Mu specializes is ribs and there is only one dish on the menu, ribs for 60,000 or 70,000 pesos. Both sizes are intended for two and the larger size comes with eight or nine large ribs. Also, a personal size is available for 35,000 pesos that isn’t on the menu, which comes with four ribs.

Also, the ribs at Mu are served with homemade chunky fries and a small side of nachos and guacamole. In addition, the ribs come with four sauces on the side: spicy, BBQ, chimichurri and mango.

And if you have space left after eating the huge ribs there is a brownie with ice cream on the menu for 9,000 pesos.
The Drink Menu
Mu Medellín has a small drink menu. Mojitos are the house specialty for 16,000 pesos. And there are 10 beers on the menu for 6,000 to 9,000 pesos. Also, there is a house wine for 9,000 pesos per glass.
In addition, there are eight different liquors on the menu for 5,000 to 10,000 pesos per shot.
Finally, there are soft drinks, orange juice and tea on the menu for 5,000 to 8,000 pesos each.

How to Get to Mu Medellín
Mu is located in Provenza in El Poblado. And it’s located about four blocks from Parque Lleras.
The nearest Medellín Metro station is the Poblado station on the A Line. Mu is located about a 20-minute walk uphill from the metro station or about a 7-minute taxi ride from the metro station.

The Bottom Line: Mu Medellín
In my opinion, Mu has the best ribs in Medellín. This restaurant has huge and meaty ribs, which are the largest ribs I have found in Medellín. If you like ribs, I highly recommend this restaurant. Also, it’s recommended to go earlier than 7:30 pm, as later in the evening this restaurant tends to fill up.
Mu is popular but is only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday. The limited days it’s open is the biggest downside of this restaurant. Also, ribs are the only thing on the menu. So, if looking for something other than ribs or a bigger menu selection you will need to go elsewhere.
The biggest competition to Mu is Federal Ribs, which is a chain of five rib restaurants in Medellín with a larger menu. The ribs at Federal ribs typically are good but don’t really compare as they are not as big and meaty as the ribs at Mu. However, Federal Ribs is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
In addition, most of the steakhouses in Medellín have ribs on the menu. Also, 20Mission Cerveza has some good ribs.

I’ve eaten here twice now. I gotta say, the ribs here are superb. In fact, these ribs are among the best I’ve ever eaten anywhere. Large portions, fall off-the-bone meat with just the right amount of sauce. As the author said, there are 4 sauces that come with your meal. Although the ribs already come with sauce on them, don’t blame me if you get caught double-dipping your ribs with the other sauce varieties.
The ribs come with french fries as standard. But you’re not coming here for the fries so pace yourself. Also you get a guacamole and chip starter before the ribs too. Bottom line: You won’t leave hungry if you get either the small or larger order.
This restaurant is run by a husband and wife duo. They’re very personable and take a lot of pride in their product and customer service. As far as their slogan is concerned, I have no issues with it. If you can’t take a bit of marketing humor in exchange for a good meal then go dine at a local church function. Besides they’re not lying. So if you’re free on a Friday or Saturday evening and you just gotta have ribs then I think this place is worthy your time.

Ribs look good… As a marketing / branding professional, I cannot deny the memorability/cut-through-the-clutter power of their slogan. That being said, am I the only one who finds it off-putting, and don’t really want to support it?
I would never, ever, go somewhere with such little class and education as to announce itself with the vulgar (and misspelled) term of “fuking” good ribs.
