Hooters in Medellín is a popular place to watch sports and they have many televisions. You will typically see this sports bar very busy for major sporting events like the Super Bowl and World Cup.
In addition, on Sundays during the football season in the U.S. this sports bar usually has the NFL games playing on the televisions. And sometimes you will even see customers wearing their favorite team’s jersey.
Several Medellin Guru website readers asked what are good places in Medellín to watch NFL, NBA, MLB and other sports events. So, we have looked at some of the most popular sports bars in Medellín in detail.
Also, we included Hooters in our list of six popular sports bars in Medellín. Note three of the above photos are courtesy of Hooters Colombia.
Hooters History in Colombia
The first Hooters in Colombia opened in Bogotá in 2008. This franchise location was opened by a group of friends that had met at Hooters in Coconut Grove (in Miami) and decided there was an opportunity for Hooters in Colombia.
This first Hooters in Colombia located in Bogotá reportedly started receiving over 1,000 customers every day and was a success. Now there are three locations in Bogotá including the newest one that opened in May 2018. Also, there is a Hooters in Medellín that opened in 2009 and one in Cali that reportedly opened in 2012.
So, that is a total of five locations in Colombia. And reportedly the company is interested in opening additional locations in Cartagena and Barranquilla. I have been to four of the five locations in Colombia.

The Food Menu
The menu at Hooters in Medellín is similar to the menu you would find at location in the U.S. but with some additions. For example, I haven’t seen bacon wrapped wings at locations in the U.S. But you will find this on the menu in Medellín. And obviously you won’t find Aguardiente in the U.S.
The buffalo wings are the most popular item on the menu at Hooters. The original Hooters-style wings or boneless wings are priced at 17,900 pesos for six, 26,900 pesos for 10 wings, 36,900 pesos for 15 wings, 47,900 pesos for 20 wings and 115,900 pesos for 50 wings. I have eaten at this sports bar several times and they have good wings.
The other types of wings at hooters like the Daytona Beach Style wings or Bacon Wrapped wings are more expensive. In addition, there are 12 different sauce options for the wings.
Also, this sports bar in Medellín has a promotion for 2-for-1 wings every Wednesday. So, on Wednesdays this sports bar is normally busy.
There are many other items on the menu including burgers for 25,900 to 34,900 pesos; five different salads for 24,100 to 27,200 pesos; five different sandwiches for 28,900 pesos each and five different seafood options for 29,300 to 34,900 pesos.
In addition, there are 14 different appetizers on the menu including quesadillas, cheese sticks, nachos and fried pickles. The appetizers range in price from 15,700 to 47,200 pesos.
Finally, there are four desserts on the menu priced from 12,400 to 13,600 pesos.
The Drink Menu
On the drink menu there are 17 different beers available for 8,700 to 10,500 pesos. And a pitcher of Club Colombia beer costs 33,000 pesos and a pitcher of BBC artisanal beers costs 38,500 pesos.
Also, there are over 30 liquors on the menu for 90,000 to 500,000 pesos per bottle or 6,000 to 35,000 per shot.
In addition, there are 13 different cocktails on the menu for 14,000 to 25,000 pesos. And a pitcher of mojitos costs 65,000 pesos.

Sports Bars in Medellín
On the Medellin Guru website we have looked at four popular sports bars in detail:
- Patrick’s Irish Pub – a large sports bar in Parque Lleras that is popular with foreigners.
- Hooters – a popular U.S. sports bar in Parque Lleras with good wings.
- Ay Wey Bar and Grill – a small sports bar in El Poblado on Calle 10.
- Sports Wings – a chain of seven sports bars in Medellín with good wings.
In addition, we looked at six popular sports bars in Medellín that are good places to watch major sporting events like the Super Bowl, World Cup, World Series or NBA finals.
The Bottom Line: Hooters in Medellín and Colombia
Hooters is popular with foreigners and the menu in Medellín has many of the same items as a Hooters location in the U.S. So, sometimes there are more foreigners than local Colombians at this sports bar.
In addition, some foreigners I have talked to don’t seem to like that there is a Hooters in Medellín. But it has been in Medellín for about 10 years and the first Hooters in Colombia opened in Bogotá in 2008.
This sports bar is a popular place to watch sports with many TVs and friendly service. In addition, for major sporting events, this sports bar tends to fill up. So, we recommend going early to get a table.
The biggest competition for Hooters is the other sports bars nearby including Patrick’s Irish Pub on the same street in Parque Lleras and Ay Wey Bar & Grill and Medellin Beer Factory, which are located nearby on Calle 10.
