Festival de Tango de Jericó – Bandoneonisimo

July 4 @ 7:00 pm - July 6 @ 10:00 pm Free

In its seventh edition, the Bandoneonísimo Festival returns to fill the mountains of Jericó with tango, with a heartfelt tribute to Argentina, cradle of the bandoneon and the tango soul. From July 4 to 6, this cultural gathering brings together artists, musicians, children, and tango enthusiasts in a program that honors memory, identity, and music as a vehicle for social transformation.

With live performances, master classes, talks, and an emotional central concert with international guests such as Pablo Jaurena and the Orquesta El Empuje, the festival continues to sow art, memory, and passion for tango in southwestern Antioquia.

📚 History & Interesting Facts:

Jericó, a charming colonial town known for its religious devotion and stunning landscapes, has embraced tango, particularly the melancholic yet passionate sound of the bandoneon. The festival, “Bandoneonisimo,” is a testament to this embrace, aiming to consolidate Jericó as a significant destination for tango culture in Colombia. Also, as the name “Bandoneonisimo” suggests, the festival consistently places the bandoneon at its core. This might involve dedicated bandoneon performances, masterclasses, or discussions about the instrument’s role in tango.

The festival was conceived with several key objectives:

  • Tribute to Argentina: It serves as a direct homage to Argentina, the birthplace of tango, recognizing its profound cultural impact.
  • Promotion of Tango Culture: It seeks to preserve, promote, and disseminate tango music and dance, ensuring its continuity and appreciation among new generations.
  • Artistic Exchange: It brings together local, national, and international artists, musicians, dancers, and pedagogues, fostering a rich environment for artistic exchange and collaboration.
  • Community Engagement: A significant aspect of the festival is its focus on community. It often includes workshops, masterclasses, and free concerts, making tango accessible to children, young people, and the general public.
  • Cultural Tourism: It aims to attract cultural tourists to Jericó, showcasing not only its natural beauty and heritage but also its vibrant artistic scene.

Economic Development: By drawing visitors and encouraging local participation, the festival contributes to the local economy.
