Andrés Carne de Res restaurant opened in Medellín in October. Andrés Carne de Res is an iconic and very popular restaurant with several locations in Bogotá and Chía. And it has finally come to Medellín.

Andrés Carne de Res in Medellín is located in the Rio Sur building in El Poblado, which is across the street from Oviedo mall.

This new restaurant in Medellín reportedly has 110 tables and sits up to 450 people. In addition, the new restaurant expects to serve about 3,500 customers per week.

Andrés Jaramillo, the founder of Andrés Carne de Res, has strong ties to Antioquia, which may be why they decided on Medellín for their first city to expand to outside of Bogotá.

Andrés Carne de Res is one of my favorite restaurants in Bogotá. Its new location in Medellín only opened a couple of weeks ago. And I have already been to this new restaurant in Medellín twice with friends.

More about Andrés Carne de Res

The first Andrés Carne de Res restaurant was opened in 1982 by Andrés Jaramillo as a roadside grill in Chía near Bogotá. But this has grown to become a huge, nearly 2.8-square-mile restaurant. It’s big enough to accommodate 3,300 customers and it has about 500 staff. Also, it has a DJ booth with over 17,000 CDs and three dance floors.

There is a second location in Bogotá known as Andrés D.C., which is also very large with multiple floors. In addition, there are two smaller Andrés Carne locations in Bogotá.

Furthermore, the Latin America 50 Best Restaurant List describes Andrés Carne de Res as “Alice-in-Wonderland meets Moulin Rouge.”

The Andrés Carne de Res locations in the Bogotá metro area are very popular with very good cuisine, eclectic décor and a very unique atmosphere.

Andrés Carne de Res in Medellín has a huge 52-page menu of food and drinks. But in Chía near Bogotá, the menu is even bigger with 76 pages. This is bigger than the Cheesecake menu in the U.S.

This restaurant chain is well known for having very good very Colombian food and good steaks. And the new restaurant in Medellín has many food options on the menu.

The grill section of the menu is six pages long. And there are over 20 steaks on the menu ranging in price from 38,500 to 138,000 pesos. This includes two steaks imported from the U.S., a New York steak and a sirloin steak for 61,600 pesos each.

The grill options come with one side with choices including French fries, papas criollas, a side salad or potato salad. I recommend the papas criollas – small fried-whole potatoes – which are delicate and really good.

In addition, there are seven pages of appetizers on the menu, which include a total of over 60 appetizers with prices ranging from 4,900 to 46,000 pesos. The Bottom Line: Andrés Carne de Res Opens in Medellín

Andrés Carne de Res is very popular in the Bogotá metro area, as it has some good food. But it’s more than a restaurant in metro Bogotá – it’s a restaurant that is also a night club with dance floors.

As I mentioned above, it’s one of my favorite restaurants in Bogotá. So, I am happy to see Andrés Carne de Res come to Medellín. Also, I expect that the new location in Medellín will become very popular.

However, the new Medellín location doesn’t have a much eclectic décor as you will find in the two biggest Andrés Carne locations in Chía and the Andrés D.C. location in Bogotá.
