A Tomate’s show is a one-and-a-half-hour sonic journey that travels from rumba to samba, passing through salsa and cumbia, with jazz elements present both in their original compositions and in their arrangements of jazz standards, always with a strong dose of improvisation.
📚 History & Interesting Facts:
Tomate’s is a project that emerged at the end of 2020, from the minds of two musicians from Medellín: Teo Grajales and José Tobón.
The main objective is to pay tribute to Luis Fernando Mesa, better known as “Tomate,” a living piano legend in Colombia. His legacy, marked by a unique way of improvising and accompanying genres such as salsa, bolero, and tropical music, has led him to travel the world. He has collaborated with great figures such as Daniel Santos, Joe Arroyo, Fruko, Piper Pimienta, and Alci Acosta, among many others.
