From Friday, September 12th to Sunday, September 21st, Medellín will celebrate the 19th Book and Culture Festival, a special edition commemorating the 350th anniversary of the city. This year, the program will feature 3,000 activities across venues such as the Botanical Garden, Explora Park, the Park of Desires, the House of Music, the Carabobo Pedestrian Walk, the District Planetarium, and the University of Antioquia.

For 10 days, more than 230 guests from 11 countries will share their knowledge, publishing innovations, and reflections on how, through art, books, and culture, we can experience “the future,” the central theme of the book events in 2025.
Which city will be the guest of honor at the 19th Book Festival in Medellín?
Jalisco will be the guest of honor at the Book and Culture Festival, celebrating the 70th anniversary of Pedro Páramo, the emblematic work by writer Juan Rulfo. The participation will include a diverse showcase of literary, gastronomic, musical, and cinematic expressions. The delegation will be made up of 40 representatives including artists, writers, filmmakers, artisans, publishers, and academics from the University of Guadalajara.

With a history of 19 years, Editorial Periférica will be the invited international publisher for this edition, arriving from Spain to Medellín with a catalog that highlights several Latin American voices. Additionally, Valeria Mejía, director of Narratives and Culture at EAFIT, announced the name of poet Darío Jaramillo Agudelo as the winner of the fifth León de Greiff Award 2025, which this year will include a ceremony recognizing the writer on Friday, September 12th.
