Medellín’s Parceros Program Wins Best Crime Prevention Project Award
Medellín’s “Parceros” program has received international recognition at the XVII International Mission of Safe Cities, being named the Best Project in Crime Prevention. This award highlights its innovative territorial intervention model, focused on protecting children and young people at high social risk from being recruited by criminal structures. The program operates directly in Medellín’s most affected communes, offering training, psychosocial support, and access to education and employment opportunities for vulnerable youth. “Parceros” exemplifies how building real opportunities from within the community, with empathy and institutional presence, makes crime prevention possible.
