The opera features Princess Turandot, a woman of extraordinary beauty but with a frozen heart, who decrees that any suitor must answer three riddles to win her hand; otherwise, they will face execution. No one has managed to solve the enigmas until the unknown Prince Calaf arrives, who, captivated by the princess, decides to face the challenge.
It is a beautiful production with more than 200 artists on stage, including renowned soloists and directors invited from Kazakhstan, Spain, Cuba, Peru, Venezuela, and Colombia.
📚 History & Interesting Facts:
It is believed that Puccini was inspired to write Turandot after attending a performance of Friedrich Schiller’s play “Turandot” in 1920. However, Puccini died before completing the opera, and Franco Alfano later finished it. The opera premiered in 1926 at La Scala in Milan, conducted by Arturo Toscanini, who famously put down his baton during the premiere at the point where Puccini had stopped composing.
