DESCRIPTION:This year\, the International Tango Festival will reach its 19th edition. The event will begin on June 24th and end on June 30th\, a week in which Medellín will vibrate to the rhythm of this genre that has a tradition of decades in the city. \nThe Secretariat of Citizen Culture\, responsible for organizing the Festival\, has already announced the program for the next edition. In 2025\, the event will be named Gardel\, 90 years of an eternal song\, in honor of the commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the death of the Argentine artist\, one of the greatest exponents of tango internationally. \nThe inauguration event of the Festival will be at the Olaya Herrera Airport\, where a show will pay tribute to Gardel. In this space\, with the help of national and international artists\, some of the artist’s greatest hits\, such as Mi Buenos Aires Querido\, Volver\, and El día que me quieras\, will be remembered. \nOther venues for the 19th edition of this event will be the Claustro Comfama San Ignacio\, the Manrique neighborhood\, Plaza Gardel\, and the Teatro Carlos Vieco. \n📚 History & Interesting Facts:\nMedellín’s connection to tango dates back to the tragic death of Carlos Gardel in the city in 1935\, an event that cemented its place in tango history. The festival serves as a tribute to Gardel’s legacy and the enduring influence of tango in Medellín’s cultural identity.
