Guadalupe Restaurante Mexicana is a hidden gem Mexican restaurant with two locations in Bello and one in Medellín that is popular with locals and has very good Mexican food.

Guadalupe is not Mexican-owned, it’s Colombian-owned but this chain of three restaurants has some good tasting Mexican food.

I am originally from Texas, so good Mexican food was a part of my life there and I like authentic Mexican food. But much of the Mexican food in Medellín isn’t very authentic. For example, I am sorry but BBQ sauce doesn’t belong on a burrito. But I have seen this at some of the Mexican restaurants in Medellín.

Guadalupe was recommended to me a while ago by a friend living a Bello and also recently recommended by two readers of Medellín Guru. And I finally went to try out this restaurant recently and was impressed.

Guadalupe tries to provide an authentic Mexican experience and succeeds in the presentation and it has some very good food in my experience.

The service at this restaurant is attentive and extremely polite. And at the end of the meal, they bring you the check in a small decorated wooden box, for a final touch of Mexican culture.

Also, Guadalupe has four sauces available ranging from mild to spicy hot. And the spicy hot sauce is pretty good but I like even spicier sauces.

The Bottom Line: Guadalupe – A Hidden Gem Mexican Restaurant Chain

Guadalupe is a hidden gem Mexican restaurant chain, which hasn’t been discovered by many foreigners as it has two locations in Bello and one in Belén. None of the three locations are in popular neighborhoods for foreigners like El Poblado or Laureles.

The Guadalupe restaurant chain is very popular with locals and sometimes these restaurants even have a long line waiting for a table, particularly on popular evenings like Friday and Saturday. I enjoyed the food at this restaurant and I plan to return to try other things on the menu.

The bottom line is that this restaurant chain has a nice presentation and good food. In addition, it’s less expensive than many other Mexican restaurants in the Medellín metro area.

I am originally from Texas and when I first moved to Medellín, one thing I missed was good Mexican food. Medellín has many Mexican restaurants but most of these are not very good in my opinion, as they don’t have authentic Mexican food.

But I later discovered that there are some good Mexican restaurants in Medellín and the Aburrá Valley. And we have covered some of the best Mexican restaurants in Medellín on this website and plan to cover a few more.
